How To Get Hotmail Working with Mac .Mail

I really like Mac’s built in mail application for its simplicity and the fact that it supports RSS and To-Do notes, however, the problem is that it does not support http mail servers such as Hotmail.

This step by step guide will show you how to get Hotmail working with Mac’s mail application:

  • You will need to install a plugin called HTTPMail which will enable you to use Hotmail with .Mail. If you are using the latest version of Mac (10.5.6), download HTTPMail from here. If you are using an older version of Mac then download it from here.
  • After downloading the plugin, install it with the built in automatic installer. Be sure to quit the mail application before installing.

  • Press Continue. and then Create on the next prompt.

Thats the end of the setup, and you should be good to go. Also don’t forget to test your outgoing emails by sending a test mail.
