Aviary – Take and Edit Screenshots of Sites in the Browser

by Akmal Wardak on July 6, 2009

Aviary, a popular web based photo editing app has a very useful service which you can use to take screenshots of websites right in the browser and do simple editing with just a few clicks.

You just have to add “aviary.com/” in front of the url of the website you are trying to take a screenshot of. Just like you would add “digg.com/” to submit a story to Digg.

To simplify what I mean, I will use Firefox.com as an example:

  1. Open firefox.com in a browser. (in this example I am using Firefox)
  2. Add aviary.com/ in front of the url when loaded completely.
  3. firefox url1 Aviary Take and Edit Screenshots of Sites in the Browser

  4. Aviary will start capturing the image and this should take a couple of seconds. (click to enlarge)
  5. firefox-aviary screenshot

  6. on the left and right sidebars you have the basic editing tools such as cropping, text, lines, arrows, circles. You can also set the colors you want to use.
  7. Edit the way you want the screenshot to look like.
  8. Save the screenshot to your desktop. (ideally in .png format)
